The characters for Yin" and "Yang". In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describes how opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Yin-Yang is often represented by a black and white circular symbol called a "taijitu". This is a unique design with one side having YIN as the dominate character, and on the reverse side the YANG as the dominate character (see photos)
