The Art of Chu Shao-Meng
The Kucheng, a traditional plucking instrument from China, was invented around 231 B.C. Most of the first Kuchengs used to have twelve or thirteen strings. After gradual improvement, the Kucheng with twenty-one strings became the most popular. Chu Shao-Meng, an outstanding musician in Mainland China, learned how to play the Kucheng from the famous musician Kao Yin. She is able to show the different styles of playing the Kucheng, especially the style of Northern Branch & Southern Branch.
